turn ordinary french toast into extraordinary!
February 10, 2010

Here’s a quick tip for turning standard and boring gluten-free french toast into something that will have your family oohing and aahing…
French toast is typically made with eggs and milk or cream. I usually also add cinnamon for a bit of oomph. Easy and a bit boring. The other day I was making french toast with the bread I’d brought back from the Sensitive Baker (review in post below) and when I opened the frig to get the eggs and milk, I spied the coffee mate on the shelf. Our house has several daily coffee drinkers so coffee mate is nearly always on hand.
Brilliance struck – what if I used the flavored coffee mate instead of milk? Let me tell you what… YUM! Took the normally delicious french toast to a whole new level and had my gang clamoring for more and asking what on earth I’d done differently.
I used creme brulee but I would imagine that most any flavor would be super fab. And best of all, all flavors I’ve seen are gluten-free and state that on the label. Woo!
